Young handballers in the box seat for 2032 Brisbane green and gold




“It’s a sport you can pick up, within the first 20 minutes you can play it and play it properly – you know, not to world level, but you can play it,” he said of the team-based play carried out on a 40-metre by 20-metre court with the aim of getting what is essentially a small soccer ball past a keeper and into a goal.


“It’s very, very high speed.”

In Australia, about a dozen clubs across six states and territories play under the Australian Handball Federation body – which received an interest boost in the aftermath of Sydney 2000 but has never quite picked up.
